My two sick babies... and other happenings

It's been a sad week at our house! Julia has a cold (although not an ear infection... it took a $25 visit to the pediatrician to learn that one... I guess better safe than sorry) and Devin has been to the dentist and endodontist getting a root canal redone! :( I've never had a root canal, but apparently it is incredibly painful. So this picture is Devin numbed up, swollen and on drugs! (legal, of course) :) I've had my hands full taking care of my two sick babies... but I think they're both getting much better.

Julia went to her first ever birthday party on Saturday. Her friend Boston turned 1, so we got to go to a party! As you can see from this picture she didn't exactly love the party hat, but she did love the party! She didn't get a cupcake though... it has to be your 1st birthday before you get one of those... Sorry Julia!

The birthday boy Boston being a gracious host and showing Julia out the door at the end of the night! Such a gentleman!

This is Julia's other new trick... pulling herself up to standing.
Good thing I lowered the crib!

My life will never be the same...

...and this is why...

I used to be able to sit Julia down with a toy and leave for a minute and I'd come back and find her in the exact same spot. Well, not any more. I'm so happy that she's crawling, I'm excited for her. However, I'm now looking around my house at all of the things I need to move, all of the outlets I need to plug, and the microscopic things she manages to find in the carpet, and I'm just realizing that my motherhood as I now know it is over. Why do I have a feeling I'll be saying that for the rest of my life!!! :)

Look! Andrea actually made a craft!! :)

For those of you who know me well you will know what an amazing thing it is that I decided to make something crafty, bought the stuff to make it, and actually completed the task, all within a couple of days! But yes, it's true, I actually made a craft!

I was at a baby store with my friend, and they were selling these letters that you hang on the wall for $15 a piece. I thought, I could totally make those for way less, and my friend said that she had actually made her son's name. She showed me how she did it, and viola! I'm a pretty good copy cat! :) A little Mod Podge and some scrapbook paper can go a long way to saving some money and keeping me entertained during a couple of nights during Devin's busy season!

So this is the beginning of my quest to find hobbies that don't require 6 days a week of rehearsal!! :)

Good Morning!

So this morning I went in to Julia's room, and look what I found! She was just sitting up and playing in her crib. She's never sat up by herself before, so you can imagine my surprise! So apparently I missed the first time she sat herself up, (although here is the photo documentation of the event) and it's officially time to lower her crib.

It's amazing (and a little sad) what I think is exciting these days!! :)

And yes, as you can see, the caterpillar mural is still on her wall. She wakes up and smiles at it and talks to it every morning! I think if I painted over it she wouldn't even know she was in her own room... and then I'd have to start the bedtime routine all over again! No way... the scary mural stays!! :)

Here's just a random fun picture from bath time.
Our little Cindy Lou Who!!

I'm dreaming of a GREEN Christmas...

Here are some pictures from Christmas! The first couple are from Nov. 22nd when we took 6 month pictures for Julia as well as Christmas card pics. Then, we got to celebrate Christmas with our little family on Dec. 22nd, so that we wouldn't have to pack the presents to California. Finally, we celebrated real Christmas by flying to California on Christmas Eve (flights are cheaper and Julia doesn't know the difference yet!) We got to be with my family, all together for Christmas for the first time in a couple of years, since Mathew is back from his mission! We had a great time, got to meet Michael's Christmas present, a new beagle named Todd (After the fox on 'The Fox and the Hound') and I'm pretty sure Devin enjoyed golfing everyday. Plus, we got extra lucky, because Linda and Peter were in Palm Springs for the holidays, so we got to see two families in one trip! We missed those of you we weren't with, but we were grateful we got to spend so much time with those of you we were!

It was a great Christmas!!

Our Little Genius! :)

This is what Devin and I got for Christmas! Hopefully next time you see us you'll be able to tell if we've been using it or not. According to some people we just bought ourselves an expensive place to hang clothes! :) We'll see...

According to Julia she got some new interesting food for Christmas.

"Hmmm... they're actually giving me paper and letting me rip it up... I think I like this Christmas business!!"

This was my favorite present for Julia from mommy and daddy... I think she liked the wrapping paper better! :)

She was fascinated by the little lights on the tree. Again...more interesting than the presents!!

A tired baby snuggling with Daddy on Christmas in California.

My whole family, including the new addition. (Todd, not Julia!)

Highlights of the last 6 (yikes!) months

For starters we flew to Texas in April (don't worry...I was 36 weeks pregnant!!) and bought this house in Frisco. We love our little house, our neighborhood, our ward, our new friends... Life is good and here is what we've been up to...

Rice cereal sneezes for daddy!

In October we went to a Pumpkin Patch

See... "Pumpkin Patch"

And please take note of what we are wearing in mid October... Not a COAT!!! Yea!!

For Halloween Julia was a Beautiful Ballerina... She helped us pass out candy at the door.

Still BYU fans, watching a football game with our friends who get The Mountain.

Our "snow day!" All of you in Utah can laugh that school was closed that day!! :)

Eating baby food for the first time.

She loved it!

Big Smiles! Our friend told us it looks like she's wearing a wig in this picture because she has so much hair!! We love Julia's fro!!

We drove to Oklahoma where I judged the OK Junior Miss Program.

Julia really enjoyed Oklahoma! :)

Julia has learned how to clap...

...and how to stand up. Our house is not safe for long!

Julia just keeps getting cuter and cuter. (And chubbier and chubbier!!)

Aaaaand We're Back!! :)

Ok, ok... for all of you (Emily Williams...) who are mad at me for my lack of blogging, I am on my way to redeeming myself! It will probably take a while to catch up from July, but I will do my best to share the highlights!!
